Decent work, capabilities and flourishing at work

Purpose This study aims to investigate the associations among decent work (DW), capabilities and flourishing of employees in a South African context. Design/methodology/approach A cross-sectional survey was conducted with convenience sample ( N = 436) early childhood development practitioners from two provinces. demographic questionnaire, Decent Work Scale , Capability Set for Questionnaire Flourishing-at-Work were administered. Findings Latent class analysis showed four capability sets: robust, relational, knowledge/skills weak sets. Employees robust set more inclined report DW than those significantly less organisational values that complement family social other three reported higher emotional well-being (EWB), psychological (PWB) (SWB) levels related EWB, PWB SWB. Originality/value contributes literature regarding DW, non-western, educated, industrialized, rich democratic non-POSH The highlights need policies focus on people disadvantaged positions. These together would strengthen their agency converting into well-being.
